Hola, my son!
Haha, I am writing this to you as we watch USA in the World Cup!
Awesome to have an event that brings the whole world together! Just as
exciting as the Olympics! Go USA!! Aaaaaand…it ended in a tie.
Bleh. We are excited to hear what this week has been like for you with
all the craziness and excitement, and another disappointing loss for
Honduras. We watched that game on Friday and wondered if you were
watching it too! I'm sure there wasn't much missionary work going on
that day. :) Fun stuff.
In
other news…we have had a good week! A few days ago we got a message
from Curtis and Marla saying they were coming to Utah and wanted a big
Smith family get-together with everyone. So we volunteered to have it
at our house! Sloppy joes, s'mores and an outdoor movie in the
backyard. Fun to see everyone again. We are getting to know
Trevor's fiancé Megan better, everyone loves her! Maren stayed overnight
with Stefanie, they had a good time. We all talked a lot about our two
missionaries, Hermana Smith at the Mexico MTC, and Elder Smith in
Honduras. We are all so proud of both of you!
Youth
Conference was this week, just two days, Thursday and Friday. They
started with a service project, a car wash for the ward. Then they
headed up to Granite Flats in AF canyon for camping and playing at the
lake. The next day they arrived home dirty and smokey, changed clothes
and headed to the church for a big Peruvian feast cooked by Sister
Lopez! Remember those? She is amazing! Then they had a fireside with a
guest speaker, and finished with a testimony meeting. Stefanie said it
was fun, but not as fun as last year. She loved getting to go to one
Youth Conference with you! So glad you got to do that together.
Glad
you had Zone Conference last week and were able to say goodbye to
President Hernandez. I'll bet he has some good stories about his three
years as a mission president. And soon you will get to meet your new
president, how exciting! We are looking forward to hearing more about
him.
How
is Stacy, your 12-year-old investigator with an inactive mother? We
are including her and her family in our prayers. Any new investigators?
How are the other companionships in your district? How are you and
Elder Dalgo? Lots of questions. You always write such amazing letters,
we look forward to them all week, and read them over and over.
Yesterday
was the first official day of summer, we are settling into a summer
routine with cross country practice for Dad and Stef, Driver's Ed and
basketball practice for Dad, yard work and house work, and always a few
fun activities during the week. This week we are going to the Manti
Pageant. We've been several times, but Stefanie doesn't remember! So
we thought it was time to go again.
