Homecoming Dance 2012

Last Saturday night was the homecoming dance at Lehi High School.  Braden asked a cute girl, Halea, from his cross country team.  I later realized that we knew her family.  We moved into their neighborhood fifteen years ago when we bought our first house.  Then a few years later they moved to a new home in Lehi, and soon afterwards we moved too.  I hadn't seen them since Halea was about 3 years old!  Braden and Halea didn't remember being in nursery together.  Ha ha! Those are some of the joys of living in the same town for many years.  We have been residents of Lehi for nearly 18 years!  Anyway, Braden and Halea and three other couples went to the dance together, then afterwards they all came here for icecream sundaes and to watch the BYU/Utah game.  It was so fun having them here, I love having a houseful of teenagers!

The next day Halea's mom sent me an email and the pictures she took on her front porch. She wrote:

"Braden is a cutie.  So polite and fun.  Halea had a great time.  She was totally hoping that he would ask her, so it made her week when he did.  Who would have thought all those years ago that our kids would be hanging out.  How cute!  Thanks for raising such a great son, you have done a great job." 

Made me smile!  What a cute couple.

Family Photos

It had been awhile since our last family photo!  I was hoping to get it done this summer, but somehow the summer got away from me.  So when Rachel told us she was coming home from college this weekend I told her to bring her fancy camera, and something to wear in red, white or black.  This afternoon after church we went out into our back yard and had George snap some pictures.  One more item to check off my to-do list!

 

Fresh Peach Pie

 

Ok, so this is my favorite summer dessert, a tradition every summer.  I made it twice last week, because we picked up a box of peaches at a roadside produce stand.  This recipe is so easy to whip up, and absolutely delicious!  Here is the recipe...

 1 box Pecan Sandies cookies

1/4 cup melted butter

7-8 fresh, ripe peaches

1 can sweetened condensed milk

1/4 cup lemon juice 

1 container whip topping

Crush entire box of cookes, setting aside 1/4 cup of them.  Combine the rest with melted butter, and press into the bottom and sides of a 9-inch pie plate.  Peel and slice the peaches into bite sized pieces, and place in pie plate over the cookie crust.  Blend milk with lemon juice until smooth, then spread over sliced peaches.  Spread whipped topping on top, then sprinkle remainder of crushed cookies over topping.  Heavenly!

 If you hate peeling peaches, a great tip is to drop a peach into a pot of boiling water for a few seconds. Then remove the peach and drop it into cold water. Slice the peach in half and the skin will just slip right off.

Sisters

I love this picture of me and my sisters!  Tami is soon to have her first baby and Amy and I threw her a baby shower last week.  It was so much fun! Good food, conversation and company. Tami is darling, and I can't wait to meet my newest little nephew!
