Today Kent and I drove down to Cedar City to load up Rachel's stuff and bring her home for the summer. Hooray! It seems like only yesterday that we dropped her off at SUU and drove home without her. And now her freshman year is behind her! She has had a great year, excelled in all her classes, made some wonderful, lifelong friends, had valuable life experiences, overcome adversity, and gained confidence and independence. I could not be any more proud of her! We had fun this morning as she and her roommates and their families scrambled to carry out boxes, load up cars and scrub every space, wall and corner of the apartment spotlessly clean before check-out. We ran a few last errands with her, went out to eat, and then drove the three hours home. She chatted the entire time, sharing stories and describing friends, classes, professors, and experiences. It was a great day!
And now...summer! She hopes to work her butt off and save as much money as she can before heading back down to SUU in the fall. She has two job interviews on Monday, we are crossing our fingers for her! And we will cherish every moment of having her home.
