Dear Elder Smith,
We
were so excited to read your letter last week! So happy that Dustin
and Stephany and Francisca were all baptized, and that you were finally
able to wear your white baptism clothes. What an amazing experience that
must have been for you! And happy that Oscar and Rixi have committed
to baptism, we hope that happened for them. You have been blessed with
great success in the last few weeks! And now you are preparing to leave
your first area. We are looking forward to hearing about your new
adventures wherever you end up living next.
Tomorrow
(Monday) is President's Day here in the U.S., so no school for any of
us tomorrow! Dad has driver's ed students scheduled all morning, then
Stefanie wants to go to the mall in the afternoon, and Rachel invited us
over to her house for FHE. So that is how we will spend our holiday!
This
week again we have been consumed by the Winter Olympics in Sochi,
Russia. They are captivating! Every night we look forward to cheering
on team USA in all the exciting events. Dad's favorite event is
hockey--yesterday USA beat Russia in a shootout! Stefanie's favorite
event is men's snowboarding on the half pipe, and freestyle skiing. She
loves all the flips and tricks. And my favorite event is women's
figure skating. So fun! One more week left, then next Sunday is the
closing ceremonies. We think it is funny that you didn't even know the
Olympics were going on. Way to stay focused on your work! :)
So
today was Courtney's missionary farewell. She took the time to come to
our house to invite us personally, so we felt we should go to show our
support. I had a Stake primary meeting, but Dad and Stefanie went and
sat with Rachel and George. They said she did a great job on her talk
and will be a very good missionary. We are happy for her and her
family.
Friday
was Valentine's Day, do they have V-Day in Honduras? Dad gave me
flowers and chocolate, but we were were not able to go out to dinner
because he had a game…which they lost, and so now it is official…Lehi
will not be going to State. The sad thing is…they still have two games
left! Dad said he has NEVER in all his years of coaching had the season
decided so early. Poor Lehi players and fans! But the good news…the
girls BB team made the playoffs! Good for them!
Saturday
we spent the afternoon at another cheer competition, Stefanie's team
placed 1st again!! Her team is really good! Afterwards Dad and I were
going to take her home and go out to dinner for a belated Valentine's
date…but Stefanie begged us to let her come with us. And since Rachel
and George had come to the competition they wanted to join us too. So
our romantic dinner for two turned into a big family outing! Haha! But
it was fun, we were glad to have them all come along.
