Summer of Hiking

This year for Father's Day I gave Kent a book called "60 Hikes Within 60 Miles", by Greg Witt.  It is awesome, it gives descriptions of the best hikes all along the Wasatch range, including trail length, difficulty, and hiking times.  It gives details of plants, animals and birds you might encounter, as well as the geology and history of each area.  It tells you which trails are near lakes, streams, rivers and waterfalls, and which hikes are best for families and children.  Kent loves this book, he studied every page.  We decided that we would take at least one hike each week this entire summer, and will continue next summer and the next until we have been on every hike in the book.  One of our favorites was the Willow Heights hike in Big Cottonwood Canyon.  This is a 2-mile hike to a high meadow and lake, it took us about an hour and a half.  Beautiful!
