Utah has always had strict firework laws. There were very specific rules regulating when we could light them off, and how high into the sky they could fly. This year the law changed and Utahns can now celebrate with sparks soaring up to 60 feet in the air. They have been exploding all month long, and the firework stands are booming. (No pun intended, ha/ha.) Braden's high school soccer team sold them as a fund raiser with parental supervision, we spent our share of time in an overheated tent behind a cash register.
I couldn't believe the amount of money people spent on fireworks. Hundreds of dollars per customer! And very few breaks between customers. As you can imagine, the neighborhood firework displays have been fantastic. On the 4th and 24th of July we looked around the valley and could see spectacular explosions in every direction. We've attended a few professional firework displays this month as well...our family's favorite was the Riverton City celebration, complete with a carnival. After making ourselves nearly sick on those spinning rides, we sat on a blanket and took in the show. We each took turns with my camera on the "fireworks" setting, and got a few good ones. Gotta love Utah during the month of July!
