Alaska Cruise Part 1: Seattle

I am so excited to share the story of our amazing Alaskan adventure.  As a family, it was just what we needed before all the big changes coming our way.  On Day #1 we drove to Seattle, and stayed that night in a hotel.  We had several hours to fill the next morning before boarding our cruise ship, so we did some sightseeing.  It was a gorgeous, sunny, perfect day!  The first place we went was to one of Seattle's most popular tourist attractions: Pike Place Market.  We were mesmerized  by the aisles of fruits and veggies, booth after booth of locally made jewelry, gifts and floral bouquets, and tables overflowing with every possible species of fish.

 

Next we went downstairs to the famous Seattle "Gum Wall".  It is a brick alleyway covered in used chewing gum.  Rachel had come here on her high school choir tour a few years ago, and we were all grossed out by her pictures and description.  We had to see it for ourselves!  It is disgusting.  Rachel had come prepared with gum for each of us to leave our contribution.  Ick!!

And of course a visit to Seattle would not be complete without stopping by the symbol of the city...the Space Needle.
