Memory Quilt

A few weeks before the Smith family reunion I got an email from my sister-in-law, Josette.  She had an idea to create a memory quilt for my mother-in-law, and present it to her at the reunion. She asked each family to design and create several 6x6" quilt squares, send them to her, and she would put them all together into a quilt.  She told us to be as creative as we would like, we could use paint, markers, fabric, pictures, whatever we wanted.  So I got busy and with the help of a sweet friend and the "Heritage Collectors" computer program, I created these digital collages, reversed them to a mirror image, transferred them to iron-on paper, and ironed them onto the quilt squares.  It was complicated, and took me hours, but I loved the challenge of it, and was very pleased with the results.  Here are my contributions...

On the last night of our reunion, the quilt was presented to Grandma Smith and of course, she loved it.  It was darling, Josette did such a good job with it. Here is the finished product...

I was so impressed with the creativity everyone put into their quilt squares, the bright colors and patterns were beautiful and unique. What a great idea, and what a special gift.
